Knights Turn Back William Jessup

Warner Pacific Winning Streak at Six

PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific ran their winning streak to six in a row after defeating William Jessup University 76-61 in a non-conference matchup tonight.

Grace Prom came off the bench to score 14 points and hand out seven assists, helping the Knights to their eighth win of the year (8-7, 4-1 CCC); already double their win total of all last season.

WPC led 21-13 after the 1st quarter thanks to the interior play of Maryah Tipping. The junior battled inside for seven points and five rebounds in the period. The 2nd quarter belonged to the visiting Warriors (8-5), as Anisah Smith broke loose for nine points and her layup with six seconds remaining gave WJU a 36-34 lead at halftime.

The teams battled back and forth in the 3rd period, with the lead changing hands five times. A 9-0 run from Warner Pacific over the final 2:23 capped by a three pointer from Shasta Lofgren gave the lead to the home team for good.

In the final stanza, WJU rallied to cut the gap to three points (57-54), but another 9-0 burst from the Knights put the game firmly in WPC control.

In addition to Prom's 14 points, Lofgren and Tipping finished with nine points each. Tipping and Deepika Kapil shared high rebound honors with seven each.

Anisah Smith and Lily Hagerty led the Warriors with 14 points each.
