PORTLAND, Ore – A night after surrendering a 2-0 set advantage in a loss to SOU, Warner Pacific flipped the script and completed a comeback of their own to stun Oregon Tech in five sets tonight at C.C. Perry Gym.
The visiting Owls (5-4, 2-3 CCC) seemed to be cruising to an easy conference win after taking the first two sets 25-15 and 25-18. OIT committed just four hitting errors in the frames and had WPC on their heels. Chase Bohman was nearly unstoppable for Oregon Tech. She had 11 kills through the first two sets and finished with a match high 25.
The Knights flipped a switch in between sets two and three, and WP hitters began to find holes in the Owl defense. Warner Pacific coaxed eight attacking errors from OIT in the third set thanks in part to three blocks at the net, and also served over two aces.
Set four also belonged to WP, as the Knights broke a 16-16 tie and finished out the frame with a 9-4 run.
The teams traded points in deciding set until the score read 6-6, then Warner Pacific took advantage of three Owl errors while
Lauren Tennyson and
Jordan Hunter put down two kills each to complete the comeback.
Janessa Mast overcame a slow start to finish with 18 kills and 10 digs.
M'Kailah Redden turned out to be a secret weapon, swinging for 13 kills without an error.
Kealia Rosa ran the offense efficiently, touching up 51 assists. Her total tonight makes her the new career assist leader at Warner Pacific.
