PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific University shot 65 percent from the field and passed the century mark in scoring for the 4
th time this season in a 103-74 win over Portland Bible College tonight at Bart Valentine Court.
All 14 players in uniform put points on the board for the host Knights, led by 19 counters from
Xavier Cannefax. WP was not inclined to take this game lightly, as PBC had defeated CCC teams Evergreen and College of Idaho earlier this season.
A Cannefax free throw gave WPU a 30-16 lead midway through the first half, but the visiting Wildcats attempted to make it a game with deadeye shooting from distance. Cameron Jensen hit 3 of 4 from the three point line in the first half, and led PBC back to within five points (36-31) with 3:50 left in the opening period. WP closed the half with a 14-6 run however, to retake control.
The second half belonged to the Knights, as the shooting accuracy continued unabated.
Ryan Dethlefs and
Brandon Bell combined for 8 of 8 from the floor in the second half to send Warner Pacific to the non-conference win.
De'Jon Bowman tossed in 15 points to help the Knights cause, while Dethlefs finished with a season high 12 points.
William Bratcher paced the Wildcats with 21 points while going 10 of 10 from the free throw line.
