PORTLAND, Ore. – Kingsley Armah scored a breakaway goal in the 24th minute, and the Knight defense made it stand in a 1-0 win over Multnomah today.
WP withstood a strong start from the host Lions, but slowly gained the upper hand starting with the quick-hitting goal from Armah. The Knights won five corner kicks in the half and totaled nine shots but could not find a second goal.
The defense took over in the second period, as the Knights did not allow a single shot by MU. The Lions did have a dangerous free kick situation late in the game, but the WP wall did its job and blocked the attempted service into the box.
Goalkeeper Juan Inzunza made two first half saves to earn his second shutout of the season.
