Women's Wrestling Wins Inaugural Oregon State Championship Tourney

ASHLAND, Ore. - WPU Women's Wrestling finished off a great weekend by winning the first ever Oregon Women's State Championship, held at Southern Oregon University on Sunday.

Kiera Gabaldon (170 lbs) and Kaitlyn Funai (123 lbs) won individual titles, while Trynadii Rocha (123 lbs) and Zion-Grace Vierra (155 lbs) finished in 2nd place. 

"The ladies have been training hard, and it paid off this weekend," said coach Frank Johnson. "This tournament is good for the sport in the State of Oregon and will only grow from here. We plan to grow our program also and come back again even stronger."
