La Grande, Ore. | Warner Pacific faced the Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon on Saturday afternoon in La Grande. The Mounties defeated the Knights 5-0.
Â
The story was one dominated by the EOU offense, who fired off a stunning 35 shots against the Knights defense. WPU couldn't break the EOU defense down, and the Knights were shut out on the day.
Â
Of EOU's 35 shots, 19 of them were on the mark, but again, as has been the story for the season, Warner Pacific Goalkeeper
Alyssa Guthrie kept the ball out of the net for most of the shots, managing to get a career-high 14 saves.
Â
The Knights held their own for the first 20-minutes of play, keeping the Mounties off the life, but EOU found a crack in the 28
th minute and converted. The WPU defense was able to compose themselves more in the second half, only allowing 2 goals after EOU went into the half with a 3-0 lead, all of which were scored within 12-minutes of each other.
Â
Despite the remarkable day for Guthrie, the Knights couldn't get on the board.
Â
They face the Yotes of College of Idaho Sunday morning at 11am.
