Knights Downed by No. 23 Lewis-Clark State

Lewiston, ID. | Warner Pacific Men's Basketball fell to Lewis-Clark State College 84-53 in night one of the Clearwater River Casino & Lodge Classic on Friday night.

LCSC struck quickly, hitting a 3 just over a minute into the game before going on to take a 16-8 lead and forcing a timeout by Jared Valentine.

After the timeout, the Knights were able to get into their offense a little more but never able to slow down the Warriors. With just under 10 minutes to play in the first half, LCSC had taken a 17-point lead.

After a couple of successful offensive possessions for the Knights, the lead had been cut to eight. Just as the buzzer to mark the break sounded, the Warriors banked a shot in to head into the intermission with a 12-point lead, 43-31.

Throughout the start of the second half, the lead remained within 12, but as time progressed, the Knights looking  gassed, went 7 minutes without a single field goal, and the Warriors pulled away, going on a 24-0 run .Sophomore Julian Downey came off the bench to drain a 3 and manage to rack up a quick assist and rebound.

Ultimately, the deficit was too great for the Knights to come back from and the result was a 53-84 loss.

JD Esters led all players with 18 points, shooting 50% from the arc and 56% overall. Kendall Watson had 13 off the bench.

The Knights will play the Bulldogs of Montana Western on Saturday afternoon as they close up the Clearwater River Casino & Lodge Classic. The match is set for 3pm MST.
