Knights Fall to Yotes In CCC Opener

Caldwell, Idaho | The Warner Pacific University Knights (4-5, 0-1 CCC) dropped the CCC opener on Friday to the Coyotes of the College of Idaho.

The Knights continue to impress with their deep range, managing to sink 12 from deep, shooting 41% as a team from beyond the arc. Four Knights scored double figures; Kaleb Tompkins with 15, Miles Brown and Kadeem Strickland with 11 and Kendall Watson with 10.

Kaleb Tompkins came to play, nailing 5 shots from deep and 15 points, his season-high, to lead the Knights in scoring.  Kendall Watson added a double-double contributing 10 points and grabbing 11 boards.

The first half remained within 9 points, as C of I took a two-point lead at the 18:23 mark and remained in the lead for the remainder of the half, heading into the break with an 11-point lead. The Knights' offense was spearheaded by Miles Brown, who had 11 points at half.

Kaleb Tompkins came alive from behind the arc in the second half, hitting 3 from deep, keeping the Knights within striking distance. With 5:15 to play, Tompkins nailed a deep three to close the gap to 7.

After a few quick spurts by the Yotes, who led by 12 at one point, Warner Pac's shooting kept them in the game. With 2 minutes to go, Morris Bethea nailed a 3, bringing the Knights within 4 before Wadsworth responded with a 3 of his own.

Ultimately, the Yotes were able to hold the off the WPU shooting and complete the 11-point victory.

The Knights will head east to face the Mounties of Eastern Oregon on Saturday. Tip-off at 7:30pm.
