PORTLAND, Ore. –Warner Pacific and Corban put on a shooting clinic tonight in Portland, but it was the visiting Warriors that edged in front in the final moments to win 89-85 in Cascade Conference action. The result is WP's 4th loss in five games, dropping the Knights to 7th in the CCC standings.
WPU (14-11, 5-9 CCC) made 55 percent of their field goal attempts and hit 10 of 23 from three point range, but Corban was slightly better with a 56 percent shooting effort and 15 of 26 from distance.
The accurate shooting from the Warriors (17-8, 9-6 CCC) sent them ahead by eight points (73-65) with 6:45 to play, but the host Knights fought back and claimed a two point lead on a
Morris Bethea free throw with 58 seconds on the clock.
Corban responded with a clutch three pointer from Tyler Wadleigh, then claimed the rebound on the ensuing possession as WP came up empty. Corban then made 6 of 6 from the line to provide the final margin.
AJ Hodges led the victors with 24 points, while Wadleigh contributed 15 important counters.
Collin Malcolm matched a career high with 34 points for Warner Pacific, and added nine rebounds.
