PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific put up a strong resistance, but their defense finally cracked in the second half versus Ottawa University Arizona.
The non-conference matchup was knotted at 0-0 after 45 minutes of action. The visiting Spirit were the more aggressive team, launching 13 shots toward goal. Knight keeper
Alyssa Guthrie made seven saves to keep Ottawa off the board.
Ottawa tallied their first goal just over minute into the second half, as Saipress Jones tapped home a pass from the endline. Sarah Inafuku added two more goals in the 65th and 72 minutes.
WPU managed to venture forward on several occasions, registering 6 shots and 2 corner kicks, but could not break through.
"The ladies put forth a good effort again today," said coach
Josh Westermann. "With such a thin bench, the fatigue sets in and the loss of concentration happens. We'll continue to work on our fitness and we'll welcome a few players back from injury soon."
