Knights Women's Volleyball Defeats Multnomah 3-1 For First Conference Win

Portland, Ore. | Warner Pacific faced off against cross-town rival Multnomah University Lions and the Knights were able to pick up their first Conference win of the season in a 3-1 match.

The Lions started out set one with a 4-0 run before the Knights gained momentum and went on a stellar 7-0 run, led by a couple of Service Aces by Shania Rose. The Knights were able to hold onto the lead and seal the 25-15 victory.

The second set was a battle back and forth but with the help of their Senior Middle Blockers, Haley Yoder and Gennah Schoen, the Knights took the lead 18-15 before the Lions ultimately claimed the set with a 25-22 victory.

After a back-and-forth start to set three, Warner Pacific ran away with it, taking a quick 11-point lead and closing out the 25-12 victory and forcing the Lions to a fourth set, which ended by way of a big, match-ending block by Lauren Jones and Haley Yoder.

The Knights hit for a season-high .393%, tallying 51 Kills for the night.

"Really happy with the way we hit tonight," said Knights Head Coach Nels Norquist, "We had too many errors in second set, but made up for it in the 3rd and 4th. We wanted to serve tough, block well and limit hitting errors, and tonight Gennah really helped us do that."

Gennah Schoen lead the Warner Pacific in Kills and Blocks, tallying 10 Kills and 7 Blocks and doing exactly what Coach Norquist asked.

The Knights will host Northwest Christian on Friday, September 27th at C.C. Perry Gymnasium. The match is set for 7PM.
