Portland, Ore. | The Warner Pacific University Women's Soccer Team kicked off a 7-game homestead, hosting the Warriors of Corban University on Friday morning.
Â
The Warriors (5-2-1, 2-0-1 CCC) struck quickly against the Knights (0-5, 0-2 CCC), finding the back of the net just nine minutes into the match. Knights keeper
Alyssa Guthrie continues to be a saving grace for the Knights defense, recording, for the third straight game, seven saves.
Â
After the quick Warriors goal, the Knights' defense stepped up and kept the ball out of the net for the remainder of the first 45 minutes, heading into halftime down by one.
Â
The second half seemed to be dominated by the Warriors offense, attacking the goal with four shots in four minutes, again, putting Guthrie to the test. The Knights continued to fight hard, holding Corban to a one-goal lead but as frustrations began to rise and a few yellow cards were given, the Warriors were able to capitalize on the gassed-out Knights defense, pushing the ball through the back line and into the goal in the 77
th minute.
Â
The Warriors sealed their 3-0 victory with a goal with just 90 seconds left in the match.
Â
Warner Pacific will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they face the Northwest Christian University Beacons at ETSC. The match is set for 2 PM.
