Knights Fall Short to Schlabach and Beacons

Eugene, Ore. | In a game with seven lead changes, Warner Pacific was defeated by the Beacons of Northwest Christian University 71-80 on Friday night.

The Knights were led by Miles Brown's 21 points and nine rebounds. Followed by Kadeem Strickland's 16 points and Stephon Shaw's 14 coming off the bench. Shaw was 3-6 from deep and snagged eight rebounds.

The two teams fought tirelessly back-and-forth for forty minutes, exchanging the lead seven different times, with the largest lead of the game, eight, coming with just two minutes remaining.

After battling on the boards, it seemed that the game would head into the break with a tie, but with time winding down NCU's Ernest Egoagu's sunk a three to take the three-point lead.

Coming out of halftime, Miles Brown scored six straight points for the Knights, responding to every NCU bucket with one of his own. With 4:58 remaining, the Knights trailed by three but as many games have, this one came down to free throws and the Beacons sealed their victory at the line.

The Knights, who are usually a very good three-point shooting team were outshot by the Beacons 14 to 7 from beyond the arc. As it seemed Warner Pac would get momentum, NCU would respond with a 23-footer.

NCU's Stevie Schlabach led all scorers with 25, followed by Ernest Egoagu who finished with 22.

Warner Pac will head cross-town to Corban University on Saturday night looking to rejuvenate after Friday's loss. The tip is set for 7:30pm.
