Portland, Ore. | Warner Pacific struggled to find the bottom of the net on Friday night. The Knights gave up a 112-75 home loss to the Warriors of Corban University.
Â
With three regular season games left, Warner Pac now moves to 13-13 (8-9 CCC) and the Warriors to 11-16, (5-12 CCC).
Â
The Warriors came out pedal to the metal and never let up, taking a 30-14 lead after just eight minutes of play. AJ Hodges could not miss a shot, knocking down shot after shot. Hodges had 20 points in the first 13 minutes. He was 8-8 from deep on the knight and finished with 26 points.
Â
Warner Pacific had a hard time finding an offensive flow all evening, going nearly five minutes without a bucket in the first half. With three minutes remaining in the half, the Knights trailed by 30-points. Senior
Mark Borgeson came off the bench and provided a spark in the first half, scoring the teams last four points before the break.
Â
After the break and throughout the second half, despite Coach Valentine's best effort in switching up lineups to possible gain momentum, the shots just weren't falling for WPU.
Â
In contrast, it seemed whatever Warrior was put in the game, was able to find their way to get on the stat sheet. After 30 minute of play, Corban had taken a 35 point lead.
Â
The leading scorer for the Knight was
Aaron Stuart, a junior transfer out of Olympia College. Stuart had only played in 8 games leading up to tonight, but seemed to be the offensive answer for the Knights. Aaron finished with 14 points, playing 18 minutes and was 4-4 from the charity stripe.
Â
As mentioned earlier, AJ Hodges finished with 26 points, leading all scorers. He was followed by Tyler Wadleigh's 17 points and seven assists off the bench.
Â
The Knights will close out their home campaign for the 2020 season on Saturday for Senior Night with a 7:30pm scheduled tip-off.
