Knights Split with Bruins

Newberg, Ore. | Warner Pacific split a pair of games against NCAA Division III opponent George Fox University. The Bruins took the first game 7-3 while the Knights won 4-2 in the night cap. The Knights move to 5-2 on the season.

The Knights' defense gave up four runs in the second inning, putting the Bruins ahead quickly but were able to respond with a hit of their own at the top of the third.

The Bruins continued to send the ball through the air, getting three more runs in the fourth quarter, including a homer. The Knights trailed 7-1 after just four innings but were able to rally for two hits in the seventh as they fell 3-7.

After three evenly matched innings in the night cap, the Umpires called a rain delay as they waited for it to dry out a bit. Coming out of the delay, the Knights scored two right away; with two runners on bases, Rebekah Roe singled to left field bringing in a runner. The next pitch another Knight scored off of a throwing error and WPU was up 2-0.

Fast-forward to the seventh inning, once again, Rebekah Roe steps to the plate, this time sending the ball far beyond the barrier. Knights up 3-1. To close out the top of the seventh, Sarah Stanfill scores on a wild pitch. Knights close out the night cap with a 4-2 victory.

On the day, Rebekah Roe finished with 4 AB, 3 RBI's, 1 HR.

The Knights will play the rescheduled double-header against Williamatte on Monday, February 17th at 5 & 7pm at Rex Putnam HS in Milwuakie, Ore. These will be the last games before CCC play kicks off on Friday February 21.
