Salem, Ore. | A low-scoring effort featuring just one goal was all that was needed for the Warner Pacific University Women's Soccer team (1-6, 0-4) to fall to the Corban University Warriors (6-2, 2-2), who outshot the Knights 3-31 in today's 0-1 final score.
The lone goal of the game came quite early in the 18
th minute, when Corban's midfielder Juliana Pires scored on a free kick, proving to be the game-winner in an otherwise scrappy defensive battle.
A lack of an offensive showing was exactly what the Knights didn't need this afternoon, as holding the Warriors to just one goal has only happened in one other game this season. Despite having only three shots all game, all three were shots on goal by three different Warner Pacific players, meaning the Knights executed their few opportunities with care and precision.
Knights' senior goalkeeper
Makenna McClellan allowed one goal on ten shots on goal, while securing nine saves in all 90 minutes for Warner Pacific.
The Knights will have an opportunity to secure their first conference win of the season tomorrow at 3pm PST, when they travel to take on the Bushnell University Beacons (3-6, 1-3) in Eugene, Ore.
