Eugene, Ore. | A day after dropping their most recent conference game by a final of 0-1, the Warner Pacific University Women's Soccer team (2-6, 1-4) reversed course this afternoon by topping the Bushnell University Beacons (3-7, 1-4) with the same final score outcome of 1-0.
After being held to 3 shots yesterday, the Knights' offense came alive with 19 total shots today, forcing Beacons' goalkeeper Anabel Mendez to move around the penalty box and allow for more opportunities for Warner Pacific.
In the 39
th minute, Knights' senior forward
Miki Dart found fellow senior forward
Alanna Smith in front of the net all by herself, with only Mendez to beat. Smith capitalized on what would be the best opportunity of the game, as she went across her body to score into the back left corner of the net, well past the diving arms of Mendez.
A solid shutout performance from the Knights' defensive line, as well as the senior leadership in goal from Knights' goalkeeper
Isabell Bauer provided Warner Pacific with the encouragement they needed to seize their first conference win of the season.
The Women's Soccer team will return to the Eastside Timbers Sports Complex next Friday, October 8
th, where they will battle crosstown and conference rival Multnomah University as the visiting team at 2pm PST.
