PORTLAND | The Clark College transfers struck together for the first time this season, as the Warner Pacific University Women's Soccer team (3-6, 2-4) took down crosstown conference rival Multnomah University Lions (1-7, 0-6) by a final score of 2-0.
The Knights held the upper hand over the Lions for the large majority of this game, specifically in the 14
th minute when junior forward
Maddie Goss converted a penalty kick goal to open the scoring and quickly put the Lions on the defensive. This was Goss' fourth goal of the season, which ties her for a Top 10 spot in the Cascade Collegiate Conference goals leaderboard.
A perfectly placed corner kick opportunity in the second half from Knights' senior midfielder
Courtney Cutter gave senior defender
Brin Wolvert with an excellent opportunity to double this lead for Warner Pacific, and a big enough gap to play a tight defensive alignment the rest of the match to ensure the victory over the Lions.
Picking up the win and her third shutout victory of the season was senior goalkeeper
Isabell Bauer, who has not allowed a score in her last 230 minutes in goal. Bauer picked up 2 saves tonight, while her defensive line kept her out of from harm's way for an impressive victory.
Multnomah had 4 shots in today's match, all by different players across the board, and defensively were led by goalkeeper Trisha Priest with 5 saves while allowing two goals.
The Knights will take advantage of an extra rest day after rivalry match day to prepare for a trip across the northern Oregon-Washington border, where Northwest University and The Evergreen State College will play host next Friday and Saturday at 3pm PST, respectively.
