Knights Come Out on Top of Double Overtime Thriller in Montana

Great Falls, Mont. | Down to just nine minutes of soccer to be played, the Warner Pacific University Women's Soccer team (4-9, 3-7) found a way to get that crucial "sudden death" goal against the University of Providence Argos (2-12, 2-9) in double overtime. On UP's home field, the Knights ended their losing streak, and sent themselves home with a win before Senior Weekend.

Knights' senior midfielder Kaitlin Hirasa saved the day for Warner Pacific, as she perfectly placed her sliding shot into the bottom right corner of the net, sealing the victory in the 101st minute of the game. Sophie Painter, another senior midfielder for the Knights, assisted Hirasa on the play that sent them home to PDX with a win over their shoulders, and a sigh of relief that they ever so needed before their last weekend of conference play.

Warner Pacific led the game in shots and shots on goal, while goalkeeper Makenna McClellan earned the shutout win for the Knights. The Knights' defensive unit only allowed 2 shots against McClellan, who finished the contest with 2 saves in 100 minutes of gameplay.

Argos' midfielders Dani Chang and Brittany Burman led the team with 3 shots apiece offensively, and goalkeeper Justine Humphry held down the defense with 5 saves, all up until Hirasa's game-winner that put this game to rest.

After a 3-week road trip, the Knights return to the Eastside Timbers Sports Complex for Senior Weekend, where they will play host to the Southern Oregon Raiders on Friday, and the Oregon Tech Owls on Saturday. Friday's contest will begin promptly at 2pm PST, and Saturday's at 7pm PST following Senior Day festivities.
