PORTLAND | Despite holding a 0-0 tie at halftime, the Warner Pacific University Women's Soccer team (4-10, 3-8) dropped their penultimate regular season game today to the Southern Oregon University Raiders (11-4-1, 9-2) by a final score of 0-2.
A solid 45 minutes of defense in the first half for the Knights was enough to keep Southern Oregon at bay. However, they missed out on the opportunity to seize control of this game when Raiders' midfielder Ruth Hegstad skirted it past Knights' goalkeeper
Isabell Bauer in a pinball play that involved ricochets off of several Knights defenders before finding the back of the goal.
Just a minute and a half later, forward Sarah Mauk doubled the Raiders' lead to give them a 2-0 lead, and effectively icing this match because of the defensive clamps they pressured the Knights' offense with. Warner Pacific was able to muster just 1 shot on goal during today's game. Senior midfielder
Kaitlin Hirasa led the Knights with 2 shots.
Tomorrow night, Warner Pacific Women's Soccer will host the Oregon Tech Hustlin' Owls in their final regular season game of the year. The Senior Night honors will begin as slated at 7pm PST, followed by the match against the Owls.
