Knights Are 4-0 Heading Into CCC Play

PORTLAND, Ore. | The Warner Pacific Men's Soccer Team hosted the familiar Multnomah University Lions Monday afternoon on their home field at the Eastside Timbers Complex. Regardless of the cold weather and heavy rain fall, nothing seemed to be able to stand in the way of the Knights as they continue their strong start to this season (4-0), topping the Lions 10-0.

The Rundown
A dominant performance from the start, there was no doubt that the Knights controlled the tempo of the game the entire 90 minutes, getting on the board just four and a half minutes into the match. It seemed they never let their foot off the gas. Continuing to pressure the Lions' backline, capitalizing on the mistakes, the team was firing on all cylinders, getting the job done on both sides of the pitch. The Knights' tenacious effort on the defensive end led to a smooth sailing afternoon for goalkeeper Luis Hernandez's as the Lions were held to just five shots, to Warner Pacific's 22. Approaching the nine-minute mark in the first half, the Knights already lead 2-0, both scored by Arturo Bahena and assisted by Nick Evans, the pair moving almost synchronously. Lending a helping foot wasn't the only thing on Evans' agenda tonight, the Concordia University-Portland transfer proceeded to complete a hat-trick, the night-cap being a 23-yard bomb on a set play. Evans now leads the Knights in goals scored on the season with five.

Deeper Look
This afternoon seven different players for the Knights were able to find the back of the net. Led by Nick Evans' three goals: Arturo Bahena (2), Brennan Murphy (1), Noe Silva (1), Hunter VanCleave (1), Jonathan Esparza (1), and David Uribe (1).

Flash Forward
With the cancelation of the Knights' last pre-season game against Northwest University, the Knights will look to go 5-0 as they will carry their momentum heading into their first Cascade Conference battle against Oregon Tech. The Knights will be heading to Klamath Falls to face OIT on March 7th and 8th.
