The Rundown
The Knights looked much more like themselves on Saturday, finding a rhythm and keeping the Warriors off the plate.
In game one of the day, Corban took an early one run lead in the first two innings, holding onto it through seven innings. In a 'score or go-home' seventh inning, with the bases loaded,
Rebekah Roe sac flied to bring in the game tying run. The Knights, unable to bring in a walk-off, forced an extra inning.
In the eighth inning with two outs, the Warriors managed to sneak one right down the gap for the go ahead run. With one last chance, the Knights took the plate but the Warrior pitching was too well kept. And the Knights went 1-4 to end the game.
Game two told a different story, one the Knights desperately needed to hear. Although the Warriors began the game with a quick first-inning run, the Knights powered their way into a five-run third inning. The scoring run got started with two Knights reaching on errors; Valeti Fifta reaching on a wild pitch,
Payton Hergert reaching by getting hit by pitch. The two proceeded to steal second and third base. Fefita then capitalized on another Warrior error, crossing the plate on a error by the Corban catcher.
The runs continued to flood in for the Knights following.
Devinne Amesquita sent a ball sneaking through the middle of the Corban infield, bringing in
Payton Hergert, followed by three more runs.
Paityn Willoughby stepped to the plate and sent it flying to middle field, allowing two Knights to make their way home and Warner Pacific took a 5-1 lead after three.
The pitchers for the Knights did their jobs tonight;
Abby Carlson and
Emma Foster kept the Warriors off the plate to close out the game with a victory.
