Knights Defeat Lions for First Win Of The Season

Portland, Ore. | The Knights headed across town to take on rival, Multnomah University Lions. the Knights were not only able to pick up their first Conference win, but their first win of the season in a 3-2 match. Not only was this game between two cross-town rivals, but both of these teams come into this game 0-8. Both of these teams come into this game without winning a match this season.

The Rundown
 
The first set was mostly back and forth until the Knights went on a 5-0 run, led by a couple of kills from Grace Buchanan and Mercedes Massey. Mercedes also added a couple of serve aces to the Knights' run as they went on to take the first set 25-22, their first set of the season. The Lions went on to play a strong second set, taking it 25-18, also making that their first set of this season. The third was also pretty close until the Knights pulled away with a 9-0 run, six of those points coming from Lions' errors. Knights were able to close out the third set 25-13.
 
As the Lions were able to force a fifth set, the Knights came together and rallied after losing the fourth set 25-16. The Knights jumped out to a 5-2 lead on a4-0 run led by a couple of kills by Matalasi Laban and Grace Buchanan. As the Lions went on a 4-0 run late in the fifth, it just wasn't quite enough to push them over the top. Warner Pacific's final points were both kills by Grace Buchanan, and both assisted by Matalasi Laban.
