PORTLAND | Warner Pacific Men's Soccer handed the No. 15 Corban Warriors their first loss of the season, and first loss in 850 days in a 5-1 victory on Sunday afternoon. The Knights continue the best season in recent program history, moving to 9-2 on the season and 5-2 in conference play.
Â
"This is a special group young men that I have the privilege of coaching; a group that has proven their capability of creating special moments" said Knights head coach
Troy Ready. "Today's victory was huge for us, and a great response to an early goal to equalize, then build on the lead" he said. "I am proud of my guys, but we know that the job is not yet done. We still have another 90 minutes of play tomorrow against a very good Corban team that will come out aggressive. We look forward to yet another excellent collective performance and hopefully another victory tomorrow" Ready added.

The Rundown
Corban came out early with Matheus Giron striking the first goal of the game just three minutes into the match.
Â
Maintaining their composure, Warner Pacific remained level-headed, allowing the game to come and find them. And that it did. Christian Behana responded with the equalizer in the 42
nd minute from a
Brandon Medrano pass.
Â
Just two minutes later,
Brennan Murphy picked off a lackadaisical Warrior pass in their own box and sent it past the keeper for the go-ahead goal with just sixty seconds remaining in the half.
Â
Using the momentum from the closing minutes of the first forty-five minutes of play, Warner Pacific pressured the Corban defense, drawing a crucial foul in the box, giving the Knights an opportunity to gain some extra assurance of the victory. In the 63
rd minute,
Arturo Bahena converted on the penalty kick with ease.
Â
With 25 minutes to go, the Knights had the No. 15 team at a two-goal deficit.
Â
Just nine minutes later, A. Bahena struck once more, taking on the Corban keeper one-on-one, sending the ball past his glove.
Â
The night cap came from that of a
Mauricio Sanchez header off of a perfectly served
Nick Evans corner kick in the 82
nd minute.
