Bruno Moves to No. 15 All-Time in Scoring in Loss to Eastern Oregon

PORTLAND | Warner Pacific Women's Basketball dropped a Cascade Collegiate Conference matchup against Eastern Oregon, 63-77 on Friday night. The Knights, playing without their head coach Matt Gregg on the sidelines for just the second time during his 26-year career, were led by Alex Brown. The Knights move to 4-4 (1-2 CCC) on the season.

Gabriella Bruno scored 16 on the night, her eighth double-digit game in a row, moving the senior out of Lake Oswego up to the No. 15 spot on the program's All-Time Scoring List.

The Rundown
The Mounties held a tight grip on the Knights' offense in the first half, holding the team to just six points on 21% shooting in the first quarter. The Knights trailed 6-15 after the first ten minutes of play.

Finding more of a rhythm in quarter two, Warner Pacific managed to knock down shots but not before Eastern Oregon found their hot streak. The team shot 52% from the field in the second quarter and headed into the locker room with a 40-22 lead.

Courtney Jackson finished the half with 10 points while Gabby Bruno contributed eight.

The Knights, notorious for their strong third quarters, followed through on their reputation ultimately outscoring the Mounties 23-22 in the third quarter of play. Wire to wire through the quarter, the two teams exchanged baskets but Warner Pac was never able to find themselves on a run. Rounding out three quarters of play, Eastern Oregon led by 17.

In the final quarter of action, Warner Pacific proved to be a slight scare for Eastern Oregon. The Knights scored nine points in two minutes to chip away at the Mountaineer lead and with 4:16 remaining, Warner Pac was within ten. A lead that seemed within grasp for the first time of the night began to slip away as the sharp shooting and precise passing of EOU worked its way through the Warner Pacific defense to eventually complete the victory.

Warner Pacific's Courtney Jackson ended the night with 18 points, shooting 4-11 from behind the arch. Gabriella Bruno added 16 points of her own. Anna Farner led the Knights on boards with seven, followed by Kylie Guelsdorf's five.

The Knights' defense forced 16 Mountie turnovers while committing 12 themselves.

Eastern Oregon's Beverly Slater led all scorers, finishing with a 23 point, 13 rebound double-double.
