The Rundown
Â
Sometimes, it just isn't your day. And Saturday afternoon was one was one of those days for the Knights where it felt like we couldn't buy a basket. The Knights shot 18-55 (32.7%) from the field.
Â
The Hawks set the tone early by jumping out to a 6-0 lead before
Miles Brown stepped up and knocks his first three pointer down.
Â
Although the Knights struggled offensively throughout the contest, they managed to hang on closely for most of the first half. Southern Oregon stated to pull away with about nine minutes left in the first, going on a 9-0 run led by Hawks' Mason Whittaker to give them an 18-31 lead.
Â
The Knights find themselves down 29-38 heading into the break.
Â
The second half was controlled by Southern. The Hawks' Josh Meyer and Jake Virga both log 10 second half points to lead their team.
Â
Although the Knights struggled as a unit from shooting from the field,
Christian Hodge and
Javon Peterson were the offensive spark for the Knights Saturday afternoon. Both players just playing under 25 minutes, came I and really gave the Knights the energy they were looking for.
Â
Javon Peterson scored 11 of his 12 points in the second half, shooting 3-6 from beyond the arc for the contest.
Christian Hodge gave the Knights huge minutes as he records another double-double off of the bench, ending the game with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Â
However, as the match went on, the Knights were not able to keep up with Southern Oregon on their home court. In the second half alone, the Hawks scored 22 points in the paint, to Warner's 8, and the Hawks scored 11 fast break points to Warner's 2.
Â
The Knights were not able to get it done, as the Hawks go on to take a 60-81 victory over the Knights.
