CALDWELL, Idaho | Warner Pacific softball dropped a pair of games to No. 23 College of Idaho in day one of a two-game series on Friday afternoon. The Knights move to 10-16 in conference play with one day of regular season play left.

The Rundown
The Yotes scored one run in the first inning of the
opener before
Payton Hergert opened the game for the Knights with a two-run homerun to center field.
Â
At the end of the first, the Knights held a 2-1 lead over the Yotes.
Â
Holding a tight defensive battle with C of I, Warner Pacific kept the Yotes off the plate through three innings and holding the one-run led heading into the fourth.

Wearing down the Knight defense, the Yotes scored nine runs in the final four innings of the game to close out the 10-2 victory.

College of Idaho finished the match with 12 hits while allowing just three Warner Pac hits.

Melia Croydon threw five strikeouts and three walks in six innings for Warner Pacific.

Warner Pacific fell 3-10 in
game two but managed to find more contact on the ball. The team finished with seven hits in the latter match of the double-header.

Abby Carlson took the mound for the Knights facing 35 batters in seven innings, allowing 10 hits.

The Yotes scored three runs in the opening inning taking a quick 3-0 lead before
Devinne Amesquita batted a runner in with a single down the right line. Two batters later,
Sarah Stanfill scored on a wild pitch, cutting the Yote lead down to one.

Building off of the offensive momentum from the previous inning, College of Idaho scored three more runs the very next inning, jumping out to a 6-3 lead. A lead the Knights continued to chase for the remainder of the match.

The Knights were held scoreless in innings 2-5 while giving up four more to the Yotes in innings four and six; two each inning.

Warner Pacific scored their final run of the day in the sixth inning on an RBI walk by
Macy Besuyen.
