The Rundown
Â
The story of this contest is the 1
st quarter. The Beacons came out of the tip firing on all cylinders. Early, and often. Bushnell was leading the Knights 6-33 at the end of the first quarter, scoring 11 of their 33 points off of Knights' turnovers.
Â
However, despite the gap, the Knights did not allow that first 10 minutes to set the tone for the remaining of the regulation. The Knights rallied in the second quarter, as each squad both put up 22 points in the second quarter.
Â
As
Gabriella Bruno remained aggressive on the offensive end throughout the contest, the Knights were looking for a spark to initiate a run.
Kylie Guelsdorf was that spark, as she logged 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals off of the bench for the Knights.
Â
Even though the Knights fought hard in the 3
rd and 4
th quarter, they were unable to make up for the deficit they found themselves in the first quarter of play. It is tough to make a comeback when a team is shooting as efficient throughout the game, as Bushnell did. The Beacons shot 57.7% (15-26) from behind the arc, 83.33% (5-6) in the first quarter alone.
