PORTLAND | Keeping this game knotted at 0-0 for the entire first half, the Warner Pacific University Women's Soccer team (1-3, 0-1) could not keep the #15 Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers (4-1, 1-0) from scoring twice in the second half, losing tonight's Cascade Collegiate Conference opener 0-2.
Warner Pacific played the nationally ranked Mountaineers extremely well in the first half of tonight's game, where they actually out-shot Eastern Oregon and had some of their best defensive coverage of the season.
Though the Knights played them strong early in the match, the Mountaineers jumped as soon as possible in the second half when forward Morgan Farrington found the back of the goal, where she was assisted by midfielder Jordan Bartlow.
About 17 minutes before the end of regulation, Mountaineer defender Kayla Storm put another one in for Eastern Oregon on a come-backer off another EOU shot that ended up just grazing the fingertips of Knights goalkeeper
Makenna McClellan.
The Knights will reconvene in the morning before taking on The College of Idaho Yotes at 2pm PST back at the Eastside Timbers Sports Complex, following the completion of the WPU Men's Soccer game.
