Unable to Convert Offensively, Knights Falter Against Visiting Yotes

PORTLAND | Back-to-back offensive no-shows for the Warner Pacific University Women's Soccer team (1-4, 0-2) left the Knights looking for more this weekend, as they drop the weekend finale to The College of Idaho Yotes (5-2, 2-0) on Saturday afternoon, 3-0.

After an impressive 4-0 win over NCAA DIII Mills College, the Knights' offense has been stymied in their last two games against conference opponent Eastern Oregon University, and C of I today. Only four shots were taken in this contest by the Knights, none of which were on goal.

Scoring in the first half for the Yotes today was senior forward Megan Wilkinson on a long assist along the right side of the penalty box from fellow senior forward Larissa Wegner. What seemed like a missed cross from Wegner carried just enough to allow Wilkinson a clean shot on goal defended by Knights senior goalkeeper Isabell Bauer.

Yotes junior midfielder Lily Schlake found the back of the net on a crossing shot from right to left on Bauer, hitting the top right corner of the net after the feed up the middle from sophomore midfielder Maddie Smith.

Finishing off the scoring tonight was Yotes senior midfielder Alexa Rierson, who was granted a penalty kick opportunity in the 85th minute after a handball was called in the Knight's penalty box.

The Knights will have an extra day to prepare for their next conference game set for Saturday, September 25th at 7pm when they host the Carroll College Saints for their third conference game of the season.
