PORTLAND | With all of the offensive action coming in the first half, the Warner Pacific University Women's Soccer team (1-5, 0-4) dropped tonight's conference game to the visiting Carroll College Saints by a final score of 0-3.
After having two gritty first half performances last week against #14 Eastern Oregon University and The College of Idaho, the Knights were unable to repeat for a third game in a row, as they allowed 3 of the 11 shots in the first 40 minutes to find the back of the net against Knights' senior goalkeeper
Isabell Bauer.
Despite being outshot 6-11 in the first half, Warner Pacific rebounded in the second half to outshoot the Saints' 8-3, but were just not able to capitalize on any opportunities close to the net.
Six different Saints were involved in tonight's scoring, starting with midfielder Melissa Dugger who was assisted by forward Katie Martin on a ricochet cross that Dugger sailed right over Bauer not even four minutes into tonight's contest.
Saints' midfielder Zoie Koci found the top of the goal 14 minutes later on a line drive from 20-yards out after midfielder Kody Clements found Koci wide open outside the top of the penalty box.
Finishing off tonight's scoring was Saints' midfielder Emily Funseth, who snuck one past the diving arms of Bauer from point blank range. Defender McKenna Payne was credited with the assist after sneaking this one past multiple Knights defenders.
A long and competitive road trip starts next Friday, October 1
st for the Knights, as they open a three-week conference slate as the travelling team against the Corban University Warriors in Salem, Ore. at 3pm PST.
