Lewiston, Idaho | Despite being down to only seven active roster student-athletes going into this weekend due to injury and availability, the Warner Pacific University Volleyball team (0-11, 0-8) took a set on the road against the Lewis-Clark State Warriors (10-8, 5-3), but ultimately dropped tonight's match in four sets, 18-25, 23-25, 25-23, 15-25.
After dropping the first two sets featuring close back-and-forth rallies between both squads, the Knights came together and eked out a 25-23 win in set three that featured 16 total kills and only 5 errors, some of the best play execution that Warner Pacific fans have seen all season long. In the end, the Knights dropped the fourth and final set to close this one out, but not after showing the level of play this team can accomplish when working together as a cohesive unit.
The only double-double of the night belonged to Warner Pacific senior outside hitter
Grace Buchanan, who threw down 18 kills and vacuumed in 14 digs along the way. Defensively for the Knights, sophomore opposite hitter
Tevlin Britten and freshman libero
Sabah Mohammady each had 14 digs to match Buchanan, with freshman defensive specialist
Abby Alvaro-Thomas adding 11 digs of her own.
Warriors middle blocker Jada Wyms tied Buchanan with 18 kills on the evening, while libero Kenzie Dean hauled in a game-high 23 digs in the backcourt. Setter Lexi Trowbridge was the only other Warrior with double-digit digs, ending the night with 12 in the category.
Make sure you brew a pot of coffee for tomorrow night, as Warner Pacific Volleyball is back in action at College Place, Wash. to take on the Walla Walla University Wolves starting at 9pm PST.
