PORTLAND, Ore.| Clutch free throws from
Thomas Miles in the final minute helped Warner Pacific earn a thrilling 87-86 win over Oregon Tech on Friday.
The closing free throws were perhaps two of the biggest of the 29 points Miles dropped, as the junior guard proved to be too much to handle for the Owls.
The Knights (7-4, 4-2) came out hot to start the game sinking 3 straight three pointers which forced OIT (5-7, 2-4) to regroup early. The Knights extended their lead to as much as 10 in the first half but entered half time up just two points.
In the second half OIT attempted to mount a comeback, as they erased a seven-point Warner lead early on. However, the Knights had too many weapons in their arsenal and Warner Pacific shot 63% as a team in the second half to get the edge over the Owls.
Mark Wishom scored 6 straight in the second half, which included a 4-point play, and Senior Guard
Isaac Etter continued his stellar season by contributing 17 points and 4 assists.
Dakota Reber made critical defensive plays late in the game and added 12 points as well.
Thomas Miles led the Knights with a season high 29 points.
The win puts the Knights at 7-4 on the season. Men's basketball will look to continue their winning ways as they host Southern Oregon University on Saturday, Dec 31st.
