Knights Force Four Sets in Loss to Lewis-Clark State

PORTLAND, Ore.| Warner Pacific volleyball forced four sets in their loss to Lewis-Clark State on Saturday.

Coming off their first win of the season against Walla Walla on Friday, the Knights sought to build on that momentum in their matchup against Lewis-Clark State.

While the match ultimately didn't go the Knights' way, they were able to win a set, something they haven't done in any of their previous losses.

Lewis-Clark State got off to a fast start in the first set, taking a 7-3 lead to open things up. The Warriors extended their lead to 16-7. The Knights didn't have much of an answer in the first set, falling 25-17.
The Warriors held the lead all throughout the second set. The score was held close by the Knights until Lewis-Clark State was able to break things open. A 12-9 Lewis-Clark State lead quickly turned into 18-9 lead. The Warriors would go on to win the second set 25-13.

Down two sets to zero, the Knights jumped out to a 7-1 lead to open the third set. Lewis-Clark State reduced the deficit to just two, bringing the score to 12-10 in favor of the Knights. From there, the Knights tightened up. Kills from Kyla Reiling, Shelby
Martin, and Elizabeth Reid helped propel the Knights to a 25-18 victory in the third set.

The Knights didn't string together much offense in the fourth set, with their longest scoring run being two points. The Warriors were able to take the final set 25-16 to complete the 3-1 victory.

The loss drops the Knights to 1-8 on the season. Volleyball is in action again Sept. 30 when they travel to take on Oregon Tech.
