Knights Fall in Competitive Matchup Against #25 Ranked SOU

ASHLAND, Ore.| The Knights fought hard against one of the NAIA's top teams in what was ultimately a losing effort against Southern Oregon on Friday.

The Lady Knights of Warner Pacific (1-19) traveled to Ashland Friday night to battle the Raiders (17-5) who came into the game ranked #25 in the nation.

Warner came out the better of the two teams and raced out to an early five-point lead in the first quarter, with Junior F Emily Brown contributing six points. At the end of the quarter the Knights found themselves down by just two.

Warner gave up some control of the game in the second quarter, as they were outscored by eight in the second quarter. With the Knights down by 10. Warner went into the break looking to come out strong in the third quarter just as they did in the first.

After the break the Knights exploded for 19 points while holding the Raiders to just 11 in the third quarter. Sophomore G Amayla Sales had four assists in the quarter and finished with a game high nine assists while adding five points on the night. Freshman G Paityn Rhode scored eight in the quarter, including two three-pointers, and finished with 13 points on the evening.

The Knights showed fight and spirit the entire game and entered the fourth quarter down just two points. Despite their best efforts they were unable to complete the comeback in Ashland and the game finished 59-53.

Top performances for the Knights include Emily Brown who had 14 points on 7-8 shooting from the field. Brown also led the Knights with six rebounds.

The loss drops the Knights to 1-19 on the season. Women's basketball looks to bounce back against OIT (14-7) on Saturday, Jan. 28th at 3 P.M. in Klamath Falls, Ore.
