PORTLAND, Ore.| Warner Pacific men's basketball had their season come to an end on Tuesday when they fell in their quarterfinal matchup to Corban by a score of 73-63.
The Knights (18-10, 15-7) hosted their first home playoff game in five years, taking on the Corban Warriors (20-9, 15-7), whom the Knights had beaten twice earlier in the regular season.
The Knights got out to a hot start in the first half, quickly going up on the Warriors by 11.
Thomas Miles led the opening scoring run for the Knights and would end up finishing with 28 points.
Warner Pacific's shooting went cold towards the end of the first half which allowed Corban to go on a 22-6 run and enter the half up by five.
The Knights fought hard and kept the game close early in the second half. Corban found some momentum and was able to push their three point lead into a 10 point lead to get some breathing room. Corban remained in charge as they were able to keep the Knights at bay for the rest of the game, coming away with a 73-63 win.
The Knights struggled to close the gap down the stretch in part due to some uncharacteristic trouble shooting from deep. Despite being ranked in the top five in the conference for 3PT field goal percentage, the Knights were held to their second lowest 3PT field goal percentage of the season on Tuesday.
Despite not getting the end result they wanted, the Knights still had some strong individual performances on the night.
Thomas Miles scored a game high 28 points while grabbing 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Darius Traylor recorded his third double double of the year, scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
The loss on Tuesday ends a strong season from a men's basketball program that continues to trend upward under Head Coach
