Warner Drops Last Two In Series Against Corban University

Salem, OR.- Warner Softball (1-11, 1-8) dropped the final two game of the series against Corban University (9-14, 6-6). They lost the first game 8-4 and the second game 4-3.

Game 1- Warner 4, Corban 8
Warner started game one by scoring the first run of the contest. Jordyn Rosario led off the game with a single and then moved to second on a passed ball. Jesse Ramirez then hit into a fielders choice moving Rosario to third. Carrigan Foster then cashed in with an RBI single driving in Rosario from third. Corban matched Warner in scoring in the first inning when Kailey Betz hit a fly ball to center that the center fielder couldn't catch up to scoring Chas Walch from third.

Corban was able to get three runs in the third inning. Jody Fischer beat out an infield hit to short stop to bring in a run and Morgan Gleeson smacked a double scoring two more. Gleeson tried to stretch her double into a triple but got mowed down at third on a strong throw by Warner centerfielder Marin Bliss.

Corban scored three more runs in the fifth inning to make the score 7-1 in favor of the Warriors. Jody Fischer scored on a wild pitch and then Paia'ala Wilcox-Molina hit a double into the right center gap all the way to the wall driving in a run. Madison Wyllie grounded out to second base but gathered in an RBI scoring California Johnson.

Warner started to make a comeback in their half of the 6th inning picking up three runs of their own. With two on Carrigan Foster hit a monster home run scoring three. Emma Foster then followed it up with a deep fly off the base of the wall in center field for a loud single. Then Jovita Laloulu hit a ball to the second baseman who bobbled it for the error allowing Foster to get to second and Laloulu to be safe at first. Sadly, the inning was shut down there with the score being 7-4 Warriors.

Corban stretched their lead in the 6th. Katelyn Willard doubled and then scored when Jody Fischer hit a single getting to second base on the throw home.

Warner made it very interesting in the last inning of the game. They loaded the bases with two outs but unfortunately they couldn't hit pay-dirt when Emma Foster took a called strike three that ended the game.

Game 2- Warner 3, Corban 4
Corban started strong scoring the first two runs of the game in the first inning. Berkeley Porter hit a rousing double to center field scoring Jody Fischer. Kailey Betz then singled down the left field line scoring Porter from second making the score 2-0 in favor of the Warriors.

Warner was able to fight back in the third inning scoring two of their own to tie the game back up. The Knights scored again in the 6th when Jovita Laloulu singled to right field scoring Marin Bliss to give the Knights a 3-2 lead.

Corban answered the bell in their half of the 6th scoring a run when Berkeley Porter singled to left bringing in Jody Fischer. They scored again in the inning when Wilcox-Molina hit a sacrifice fly scoring Sarah Bradshaw taking the lead back 4-3.

The Knights weren't able to get anything done in the top half of the 7th so Corban took the win and the series 3 games to 1.

Warner will be on the road again this next weekend against Oregon Tech in Klamath Falls on Friday and Saturday for a four game set.
