Portland, OR. | The Warner Pacific Women's Soccer squad lost their first result of the season dropping 2-0 to Lewis & Clark on a nice 70-degree night at Griswold Stadium.
The Knights were fairly stagnant in the first half but played a much better second half. The Knights turned up the pressure late and pushed their numbers up to try and equalize the game and almost succeeded. They almost tied the game at one apiece with 20 minutes left on a one-on-one break down the field but were unable to capitalize. The Knights conceded the second goal in the 84
th minute on a goal by LCC's Megan Yanagi.
Head Coach, Justan Wolvert, wants to see better consistency from his team going forward. "We came out flat in the first half and played too soft," Wolvert said. "We were much better in the second half but didn't create enough chances for the amount of possession we had. We're still working to find consistency through a full 90 minutes. Had we started the game with the energy we found in the second half, the result may have been different. This is a good lesson to be learned early in the season and am looking forward to the opportunity to rebound in California next weekend."
