The Knights Win in Olympia

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 30th, 2023

Olympia, WA | The Knights delivered with a big win today in Olympia, Washington against the Evergreen State College Geoducks by a final score of 1-0.

The Knights win today couldn't have come at a better time as they had previously been on a four-game losing streak where they hadn't scored a single goal within that time. Today they showed major resilience and broke out of their losing streak winning 1-0 against Evergreen.

The winning goal for the Knights came in the 66th minute on an unassisted goal by Kyla Gramps for her second goal of the season. Kate Pomerinke was in goal today and the Knights defense made her job very easy only allowing three shots on goal which Pomerinke stopped all of them. The Geoducks only had four total shots in the game. The Knights shot the ball 16 times and half of those were on goal. Geoducks goalkeeper, Amity Brookshire, had a pretty solid day with seven saved shots and only allowing the one goal.

"It was nice to be rewarded for our work with a win today," Head Coach, Justan Wolvert said. "Fantastic shot from Kiya to put us ahead. We had a tremendous effort from the backline and Kate Pomerinke to keep the clean sheet. We'll look to feed off this momentum as we look forward to Multnomah on Friday."
