The Beacons Distinguish the Knights

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 27th, 2024

Eugene, Ore.| The Knights were down in Eugene, Oregon tonight taking on Bushnell University and lost 68-49.

The Knights in the first half shot 33.3% from the field and played pretty good defense to keep connected with the Beacons who shot 47.8%. Even though the Beacons shot 14.5% better in the half, the Knights caused the Beacons to turn the ball over 9 times and the Knights were able to capitalize on those. They helped themselves in the first half as well by only having 5 turnovers themselves.

The second half was a tough one for the Knights as the strength of the Beacons post game showed up when Libby Mathis had 15 second half points ended the game 4 assists shy of a triple double with 26 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assist, 1 block, and 1 steal. She was everything for the Beacons as she usually is for them. The Knights only managed 25 second half points not scoring a second half bucket till a little over halfway through the 3rd quarter.

The Knights were led in scoring today by Teirra Hicks who had a great game filling up the stat sheet. Hicks had 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Paityn Rhode had 7 points. Serena Sanchez and Alexa Mee each had 6.
