Knights Beat Rocky, Move to the Semifinals

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 10th, 2024

Medford, Ore.| The Knights Men's Soccer program had a huge day today beating Rocky Mountain College in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Quarterfinals tonight under the lights at Lithia & Driveway Fields. The final score was 2-0 in favor of the good guys.

The Knights from the jump in warm ups had a lot of energy and were ready to go and that proved key in scoring a very early goal in the 12th minute. It was a beauty sent in by Bryan Jimenez received by Abe Fuchs who then brilliantly served it in the box to a waiting Chanin Orlandin who punted it past the Rocky goalkeeper. This goal gave the Knights the huge early goal that put all the pressure solely on the backs of Rocky Mountain. The Bears had a huge opportunity late in the first half that saw a ball hit the crossbar and luckily didn't find the back of the net.

In the second half, both the Bears and the Knights had golden opportunities that were missed. Fortunately, the Knights were the ones who finally capitalized and scored the important second goal in the 68th minute. It was a Battlin' Bears own goal on a corner sent in by Bryan Jimenez. This gave the Knights the comfortable two goal advantage that ultimately drove the spike through Rocky Mountain's hopes.

The Knights will now get a day off rest up and regenerate and then will be back in action in the semifinals against Eastern Oregon on Tuesday at 7pm at Gary Wheeler Field. Eastern Oregon beat the College of Idaho tonight after being down 1-0 for the majority of the match. They scored two goals in the final 12 minutes to pull of the comeback. The Knights played Eastern Oregon just a week ago on November 2nd and won 3-0.
