FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - December 10th, 2024
Portland, Ore.|Â In a non-conference bout against NCAA Division Three George Fox, the Warner Pacific Knights found themselves unable to score late in each half losing by a final score was 56-47.Â
The Knights put up a good fight the entire game. After the third quarter, the Knights were up by one, but the Bruins fought hard and put up 18 in the fourth.Â
During the post game interview with Head coach Jimmy Smith, he reflected on the strength of the Bruins and the promise that this game showed for the rest of the Knights season. "George Fox ended up on the better end of a good game tonight, so great job to them. I feel like we can take some positives out of tonight and apply it to our future this season."
The positives Coach Smith is referring to was the Knights performance on defense, where they battled for 31 rebounds, created 11 turnovers, stole two possessions and blocked two shots. This strong defensive performance allowed the Knights to not only keep the game close, but give them a shot at pulling away with the win. On the offensive side, the Knights were able to make 21 field goals. One of the key contributing factors to George Fox not having to sweat out the finish too much was the Knights inability to convert at the charity strip going 4-8.
Individually, Graduate Students
Amalya Sales and
McKeeley Tonkin led the Knights in points both putting up ten. They were closely followed by Junior
Skylar Groesbeck who had nine. On the defensive end, the push was led by Senior
Alexa Mee who had seven rebounds and one block.Â
The Knights will go back on the road, as they take on the Linfield University Wildcats on Saturday December 14th at 5:30pm.
