Knights Are 2-0 Against the NCAA

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 25th, 2024

Portland, Ore.| The Knights won their second game of the season today in as many tries this time against NCAA DII St. Martins University out at Eastside Timbers Complex in front of a great crowd.

The Knights are not only 2-0 in the young season but they are 2-0 against the NCAA beating DIII George Fox last Thursday and DII St. Martins today by a final score of 3-1. The Knights and the Saints played great first half defense with nobody really able to get much going. The Knights had a few chances but they didn't quite work out and the first half came to a close with the score knotted up at zero.

For as little action there was in the first half, the second half more than made up for it. The Saints broke the ceil scoring right away to start the second half in the 48th minute. The Knights finally got on the board and tied up the score on a goal by Hunter Cunningham which was his first college soccer goal. It came on a corner that was kicked short. Pedro Calderon then dribble the ball into the left side of the box and then sent the ball from the left to the right of the net where Cunningham was waiting and headed it into the back of the net. The goal was assisted by Calderon as well as Gabriel Rincon. The Knights then fought hard and broke up the tie in the 82nd minute on a beauty sent in by Chanin Orlandin assisted by Jo'el Gonzalez.

The game then turned into a frenzy as the Saints tried to fight back and tie the game up. The Knights however had other plans and extended their lead to put the game away in the 89th minute sent in by Pedro Calderon off the feed by newcomer, Coleman Solano.

The Knights were out shot 12-11 but they won 7-6 on shots on goal. Josepher Juarez-Cruz moves to 2-0 on the season as Knights goalkeeper saving 5 shots allowing just one ball by for a goal.
