Emily Fortin Has Near Double-Double in Loss to Corban

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – January 25th, 2025

Portland, Ore.| Warner Pacific Women's Basketball suffered a tough loss to the hands of the Warriors of Corban University tonight by a final score of 68-55 in front of another great crowd at CC Perry Gymnasium.

The Knights played fairly well starting slow from the field but shot 45.45% in the second quarter and 50% in the third quarter which helped them get a fighting chance at earning a win. Emily Fortin led the way for the Knights today with a near double-double with 15 points and nine boards. Fortin also had four assists, a block, and a steal completing a great day for her. Amalya Sales scored 14 while also having 4 rebounds, an assist, and a steal. Skylar Groesbeck had eight points and McKeeley Tonkin had seven. The Knights were only able to muster up nine points off the bench. From distance, the Knights went 7-19 for 36.8%. The Knights weren't awful from the charity stripe but didn't help themselves either shooting 10-16 good enough from 62.5%.

The Knights in the third quarter came back from a deficit to come within one point after a three was drilled by Ashland Campbell but the Warriors from there were able to withstand the tide and come out on top.

"Tough weekend for us," head coach Jimmy Smith said. "Only one thing to do and we will get to it on Monday. You can either feel down or you can stand up, dust yourself off, and keep pushing forward,"

The Knights were turned over 21 times which led to 20 points for the Warriors. The Warriors were lethal in the paint using their clear size advantage to gain deep position underneath 28 points.

The Knights will "dust themselves off" as Jimmy Smith said and get back to work with another weekend's worth of games on the horizon this next weekend. They will be taking on Lewis-Clark State College on January 31st at 5pm in Lewiston, Idaho.
