Portland, Ore.| The Knights Men's Basketball team took on Linfield University and in a nail-biting finish took the win over them 73-71 at home.
Linfield University put together a strong second half but came up just short in a 73-71 loss to the Knights. The Wildcats were led by Dayton Magana, who contributed 24 points with six made threes. Chase Bennett added 18 points himself. After shooting just 30% from the field in the first half, they found their stroke in the second half hitting 66.7% of their shots including going 7-13 from deep to erase an early deficit and stay in a back-and-forth battle. Despite the late shooting, missed opportunities at the free-throw line cost the Wildcats going 8-14. and a 34–22 deficit in points in the paint cost them this contest.
Warner Pacific countered with efficient scoring of their own, led by Jurrien Sparks' dominant 26-point performance on 10-15 shooting. Chad Napoleon supplied 18 points and six rebounds, helping the Knights maintain control inside. The Knights also won the rebound battle with a 35–27 advantage. Warner Pacific's ability to shoot at the line in the second half going 13-16 provided the boost the Knights needed.
Terrin Dickey hit a game winning layup with just a couple seconds left with the game tied at 71 to give the Knights the lead and the win.
Next Up
The Knights coming off the win left them with a 4-3 record going over .500 for the first time this season. This game marks the end of the non-conference portion of their schedule. The Knights will now enjoy some time off for Thanksgiving and will resume action with conference play on December 4th. They will play against Corban University at the C.C Perry Gym with tip set for 7:30pm.
