Milwaukie, Ore.| In their first two games against Bushnell University, Knights Baseball lost both with scores of 10-1 and 6-5.Â
In game one the Knights took a while to find their stride scoring only one run in the ninth inning. In game two the Knights started off hot, and played close with the Beacons losing by one run.
Game One
In game one the Knights played a strong first five innings but were unable to string together enough hits to score a run. As the game went on the Beacons found a few innings to scratch a few runs across, scoring three in the sixth and ninth innings.
On the offensive side, the Knights were led by Connor Hale who had a hit, a walk, and an RBI. He was followed by Mason Deverna who had a double during the game. On the mound, starting pitcher Ayden Yaeger went seven innings with five strikeouts.Â
Game two
In game two, the Knights came out hot scoring two in the first. However, Bushnell answered back with three in the second inning and one in the third. The Knights then battled back, making the score 5-5 in the top of the ninth, but were unable to hold off a stout Beacons offense.Â
Shawn Hunt led the Knights in the offensive category for game two. He had two hits with an RBI. Hunt was not the only one bringing in runs, as Jarrod Seibel, Mitchell Thoma-Britt, and Collin Schiller all brought runs across for the Knights. Pitching wise, the Knights starter, Josiah Nickel went seven innings with six strikeouts and one walk.Â
Next Up
The Knights are back at it against the Beacons tomorrow with start times of 11am and 2pm. The Knights will then take the week off before taking on the Owls of Oregon Tech on Friday March 7th and Saturday March 8th. Friday's games are set to take place at University of Portland at 12pm and 3pm.
