Milwaukie, Ore.| In their second set of double headers against Bushnell University Knights Baseball split with scores of 6-5 and 10-8.Â
The first game came down to the wire and was won on an electric walk off hit and in game two the Knights led the entire game but one inning.
Game One
In game one the Knights went up early, scoring two in the first inning and holding the Beacons off until the fourth. The Beacons were then able to bring some runs across in a few innings but the Knights answered back leaving the game tied going into the bottom of the ninth. That is when Giovanny Alvillar called game with a walk off single to left field.
Besides his walk off hit Alvillar also had another hit, RBI and walk to cap off his day at the plate. He was aided by Mitchell Thoma-Britt who had three hits, with two RBIs, a homerun and a walk. On the mound, Connor Hale went six innings with a Warner Pacific record of 11 strikeouts. He also allowed only one walk and three earned runs during his outing.
Game two
In game two the Knights kept the momentum going leading 7-3 going into the eighth inning. However, the Beacons were able to string together some hits and score seven to go up by three runs. The Knights tried to battle back, scoring one run in the eighth inning, but it was not enough to come back.Â
Offensively, the Knights looked to Mitchell Thoma-Britt once again who wrapped up his day with another three hits, and three RBIs. The rest of the hits go down as a team effort as the Knights put up a season high of 12 hits in the game. Pitching wise, the Knights looked to Mason Deverna who went six innings with eight strikeouts and one earned run. Catcher Mathew Revels had a solid day with two hits including a triple.
Next Up
The Knights will be at home next week against Oregon Tech. Friday's games are set for 12pm and 3pm with Saturday start times at 11am and 2pm. All four games will take place at University of Portland at Joe Etzel field.
