Portland, Ore.|Â In their first two of eight games against Oregon Tech, Knights Baseball lost both contests with scores of 3-0 and 8-1.Â
In game one the Knights were unable to get the bats going, logging only three hits, and in game two the Knights were hurt by the first two innings of play.
Game one
In game one the Knights gave up one run in the first inning, fifth inning and seventh inning to lose 3-0. Overall it was a clean game defensively, with the downfall being at the plate for the Knights with only three hits being recorded. Two of these hits were by
Alex Nisbet and the third by
Mason Deverna.Â
On the mound
Ayden Yaeger logged his best outing so far. Pitching seven innings, with four strikeouts and only two earned runs allowed. In relief the Knights turned to
Kaden Hindman who threw well through two innings, with one strike out and no earned runs.
Game two
In game two the Knights were hurt by two big innings from the Owls as they put up five in the first couple of frames. However,
Josiah Nickel was able to overcome the deficit and go six more innings where he put up two strikeouts and only one more earned run.
At the plate the Knights seemed to find their stride again as they reached first base 10 times throughout the course of the game. The offensive category was led by Matthew Revels who had two hits. Revels was assisted by Trenton Lowe who had one hit, but also drew two walks during the game.
Next Up
The Knights will continue their series against the Owls tomorrow at University of Portland's Joe Etzel field. Games are set to start at 11am and 2pm. After this series the Knights will hit the road as they travel to La Grande, Oregon to face Eastern Oregon University. Friday's games will have first pitch times of 12pm and 3pm with Saturdays an hour earlier at 11am and 2pm.
