Knights Split Day Against OIT

FEBRUARY 8TH, 2025

Portland, Ore.| In their second double header set of the weekend, the Knights Baseball squad split with the Hustlin Owls of Oregon Tech.

The Knights won the first game with a score of 7-4 thanks to a big first inning and lost the second 7-2. Overall, the weekend showed promise for what is to come for the rest of the season.

Game one
In game one the Knights went down due to a solar home run but they responded quickly by putting up a big first inning scoring six runs that led to their victory. A grand slam by Jarrod Seibel was the breaking point for the Owls in the first inning.

Offensively the Knights rode on the back of Seibels grand slam but saw two hits from Mitchell Thoma-Britt who also had an RBI and Collin Schiller. Trenton Lowe accounted for the sixth RBI of the game with a hit and two walks.

On the mound Head Coach Jeff Bard gave the nod to Connor Hale who went six innings, with nine strikeouts, no walks and only two earned runs. In relief, Mason Deverna shut down the Owls, giving up no runs with two strikeouts and a save.

Game two
In the second game, the Knights were unable to carry over the momentum from the win as they found themselves down 7-2 in the fifth inning. The Knights were able to string together some hits, but not enough to come back.

Pitching wise, Mitchell Thoma-Britt went four innings in relief with two strikeouts and no earned runs. Offensively, the Knights saw another great day at the plate from Alex Nisbet who had two hits and a walk. Julius King also had a day at the plate going 1-1 with his first home run of the year.

Next Up
The Knights will hit the road this next weekend to play Eastern Oregon. The first two games will be on Friday the 14th of March with first pitch times of 12pm and 3pm. The games on the following Saturday will be at 11am and 2pm.
