Pitcher Ayden Yaeger Picks Up First Win as Knights Split the Day

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - March 14th, 2025

Hermiston, Ore.| After a weather delay, the Knights started off their series against Eastern Oregon University by splitting the day. The first game the Knights won with a score of 10-2 and in game two the Knights lost with a score of 6-2.

Game one
In game one the Knights came out hot as they scored in all innings but three. As the fifth inning finished the Knights were up 5-1 but added more runs to secure the victory. At the plate, Connor Hale showed out with five hits, three of which were doubles. Hale also had four RBI's. The Knights also hit two home runs during the game. These came from Mason Deverna and Jarrod Seibel.

On the mound Ayden Yaeger got his first win of the season. Yaeger went seven innings giving up one run and mowing down six mountaineers to increase his strikeout total for the year. In relief the Knights turned to Kaden Hindman who went two innings with no runs and no walks.

Game two
In game two both teams were unable to get the bats going until late in the game. The Mountaineers put up one run in the fourth and five in the eighth inning. The Knights were able to score as well, but both runs came in the top of the ninth and were not enough for a comeback.

The Knights were able to stay in the game thanks to Josiah Nickel who went seven innings with one earned run and three strikeouts. Offensively, the Knights saw two hits and an RBI from Trenton Lowe.

Next Up
The Knights will continue their series against Eastern Oregon with a double header tomorrow. Game one is set for 11am with game two at 1pm. The Knights will then stay on the road next week, as they travel down the I5 corridor to play a four game set against Bushnell University in Eugene, Oregon.
